The AI assistant that used to demand a subscription discount now ships to every living room running a compatible Fire TV stick, Fire TV Cube, or Amazon Ember smart TV, plus select Hisense and Panasonic sets with Alexa+ baked in. For the smart home crowd, the interesting payload isn't the streaming upgrades — it's the fact that Amazon's most conversational voice agent just became a free remote control for the rest of your house.

What you actually get for the price of zero

This isn't a quiet firmware tweak. Alexa+ is the assistant Amazon unveiled in February, rebuilt from the ground up to parse natural language instead of demanding you memorize its keyword grammar. Ask it to surface "historical dramas with strong female leads," then refine with "something newer," and it actually follows the thread.
